Obituary for Alan M. Maurice

Alan M. Maurice “Almo”, of Royal Oak died August 26, 2018. He was 54 years old. Alan was born September 30, 1963 in Royal Oak to Mary Lou (nee Gentry) and Bernard Maurice. He graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak and attended Oakland and Macomb Community Colleges.

Alan worked at Formtech, an automotive supplier in Royal Oak. He was a member of Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica and active with the Royal Oak Sandlot League (ROSL).

Known as the “Professor” to many of his friends, Alan was an avid writer who enjoyed Clint Eastwood movies and Bruce Springsteen music. He also enjoyed baseball and in 1985 tried out for the Cincinnati Reds as a left-hand pitcher.

Alan’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by many.

Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Tina and children, Aimee (Aleks) Velkoski, Allan “AJ” (Elise) Maurice, Andria (Patrick) Streit, and Alexis Maurice. He is also survived by his grandchild, Beckham, parents, Bernard and Mary Lou, siblings, Janet Barcelo, David (Cindy) Maurice, Dan (Lisa) Maurice, Joann (Scott) McKenzie, John (Lori) Maurice, and Jim (Amy) Maurice and several nieces and nephews.

Friend may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, August 31st, 2-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Woodward at 12 Mile Road, Royal Oak, Saturday, September 1st at 10am. Friends may visit beginning at 9:30am.
