Obituary for Agnes Kotzian

Agnes Kotzian (nee Kern), beloved wife of the late Francis (Corky) Kotzian, passed away peacefully June 4, 2020. She was preceded in death by her grandson Kevin Van Duyne and is survived by daughter Carol (George) Van Duyne.

Agnes was born in Detroit to parents Mary and John Kern on January 15, 1925. She grew up in Detroit with siblings the late Mary Norris (Jack) and William Kern (Barbara). After graduating from Denby High School she went to work at General Motors.

She married the love of her life Corky and they built a home in Bloomfield Hills where she lived for 65 years. She maintained beautiful flowers and loved to watch things grow, planting many flowers, vegetables from seed and spruce trees from seedlings. Her tomatoes fed many neighbors over the years.

Agnes loved children and would always make time for them, including always being available to take care of her grandson, working for a short time at Sarah Fisher, helping at school and sporting events. After Corky's death she took his place on the Echo Park Board of Directors where she served until the sale of the camp and school.

Agnes loved to sew, including draperies, tailoring, millinery and upholstering. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and politics.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Drive, Bloomfield Hills, Saturday, June 6th at 11am. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
